This is a quick side by side comparison of two popular brands of parachute cord bracelets: Semper Fi Supplies and Survival Straps. I outline my preferences.

Hey - this is great if you're already familiar with this gadget - but I found this in my search for some more useful info on WTF you even use this for? Are they still functional? Can you unravel the knot if its all melted?

I would really like to know the answer if you could.

Paracord is the duck tape of cordage. It's uses are limited only by your imagaination. You can use it to replace a shoelace, wrap a knife handle, make a fishing net, lash poles together to build a shelter, etc.
The knot on the bracelet is not melted, just the ends of the cord. Semper Fi Supplies melts the ends flat to the bracelet so it's not poking you while you wear it. It doesn't interfere with unraveling the bracelet when you need the cord. Thanks for your questions.
